Company History

CapTech was formed as the result of a friendship built between the company's founders, Sandy Williamson and Slaughter Fitz-Hugh, at Andersen Consulting in Washington, DC. Eventually, the two would leave the company to pursue other opportunities, but they stayed in touch. In March 1997, the two found themselves back in their hometown of Richmond, Virginia and the close proximity led to the creation of CapTech Ventures, Inc., an exceptional business partnership.

The company has been successful from the very beginning, growing from $380,000 in revenue the first year to millions today. CapTech is a privately held company which has successfully grown without the support of any venture capital funding. CapTech's employees are rewarded for demonstrating the entrepreneurial spirit of the company's founders. Through partnership with our clients and by providing exceptional service, CapTech has continued to grow and build on its successes. Moving into its 12th year of business, the company has grown into a full service Information Technology consultancy offering a full suite of services to a diverse client base. CapTech employs over 180 talented associates, making it the largest Private IT focused company headquartered in the Region.

CapTech's successes are proven through its award-winning performance as the 2001 Virginia Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year®, and for its nominations throughout the state and the region. In both 2002 and 2003, CapTech earned a spot on the Inc.500 list of the nation's fastest-growing private companies. As a result of the success of the company and its belief of providing value back to the community it serves, CapTech was awarded the 2004 Impact Award by the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce for achievements in growth, economic impact and support of the community.
